THE LOWDOWN: This is a website I created for Wyre Landscapes, a local garden design and build company. I wrote, designed and built the site myself using Squarespace, which offers a simple and intuitive content management system.

The client wanted a 'magazine' style design and this worked well because of the quality and choice of images they had. Having created a variety of gardens over the last 20 years, these guys knew what they were talking about. They had lots of written recommendations from customers who were bowled over by the quality of the work. So it was important that the content conveyed a sense of expertise and genuine craftsmanship, without sounding too 'salesy'. To demonstrate their knowledge, I suggested we include a section about the different types of gardens that can be created. This also served as a handy reference guide which would keep people coming back to the site. And I also wrote some brand values to match the company's ethos and approach to customer care. The result: more organic enquiries through the contact page and by email, an excellent shop front for potential customers to browse, and even more compliments from existing customers.
